A close friend (and artistic guide/mentor/inspirator) recently suggested I re-edit several photographs from VIRAGO and SKIN and eschew the black and white I love so much. The results have been exciting (for me, anyway), and you lovely Patreon people at the $10 level will receive one of these new treatments as your 4″x6″ photo at the beginning of next month. (I posted one of the in-color edits of Corinne over on my Instagram account .)
Connected to this playing around with color, I’m going to be building or acquiring (probably building, dammit) a few theater flats so I can easily and quickly change colors and backgrounds. Having just seen Irving Penn’s retrospective at the Frist Center (in which he made extensive use of theater flats for his portraits), and continuing to explore the works of both Awol Erizku and William Eggleston , I’m looking forward to this adjustment in conceptual direction. (By which I mean, Woo! Color! WOO!)
